Boost Controller – Joel ‘Shifter Kart’ Jackson

Author : cmunroe

Karting in Jamaica is not as popular as other forms of motorsports. But, I can assure you that a trip to the Palisadoes Raceway to watch one of the events is not one you will regret. In fact, you may become ‘radicalized’ at the end of the first lap of one of the races!

It is common knowledge that accomplished race car drivers usually begin their ascent to top flight motorsports at the first rung of the ladder, go-karts. The saying – you have to creep, before you walk – holds true even in motorsports.

Joel ‘Shifter Kart’ Jackson did his stint in go-karts and after leaving a successful and indelible mark on the sport, he took his skills to a wider audience.

His 2010 season will be reviewed with pride. In circuit racing, he won the IP 27 championship (Dover Raceway) and he was leading his class in Rally Jamaica 2010 until a mishap robbed him of a podium finish.
